Battenkill, 5/25/13
I can’t seem to catch a break with spring fishing this year. Every time I go out I have to contend with unusually cold air and water temps, high water levels, rain or all three. This weekend was no exception. The Battenkill was running high with swift current due to the rain the night and day before. Water clarity was surprisingly good. I would estimate the temp around 50 degrees and the air temperature didn’t feel much warmer. The damp, drizzly conditions didn’t help. I tried a sinking line fished off a 6-weight with streamers as well as a spinning rod with small spoons, but to no avail. But the season is still young and there are plenty more opportunities to be had. Good Luck!
